A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, and the Dickinson School of Law, Peter Weiss began practicing law in 1990 as an associate with Winne, Banta, Rizzi, Hetherington and Basralian in Hackensack, New Jersey. While at Winne, Banta, he concentrated his practice in commercial litigation and First Amendment media defense work. In 1993, Peter left the firm to become a member of his family's law firm in Wayne, New Jersey. Since joining Weiss Law Offices, Peter has concentrated his practice in the areas of wills and estates, real estate and elder law. In addition, he has been involved with litigations involving various probate areas, including guardianships and contested estates.
Peter Weiss has devoted a substantial portion of his career to the Passaic County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association. A former president of the Passaic County Bar, Peter remains active as a trustee and a member of the Chancery Committee and the Probate, Trust and Real Estate committees. On the state level, Peter served twice on the New Jersey State Bar Association Board of Trustees, twice on the Nominating Committee and as its chair, and served as the chair of the largest section of the State Bar, the Young Lawyers Division.
Since 2004, Peter Weiss has been a Municipal Judge in Wayne, New Jersey. In 2009, he was elevated to Chief Municipal Judge in Wayne. While the judgeship limits Peter's ability to practice criminal law and municipal law in Wayne, it has no effect on the rest of his practice.
